Life is difficult enough without having to consider the possibility of amnesia complicating our day any further.

We often forget things ...as is our usual nature, though more often than not, we more readily forget the things we don't have our minds steadfastly set on.  In other words, we are often preoccupied with things that are more desirable to us.

Yet, there is also the opposite of this ...and a very sad state of affairs.  We can be also preoccupied with things we fret or fear.  A child with an alcoholic parent may fear his loved one may come home angry and out-of-control.  Who could argue that this is not a realistic fear??

Neither the alcoholic parent, nor the victim child may want the situation to exist ...but, it does exist too often.

Yes, life is often very complex ...yet, our expectations for it are rather simple.  We may plead, "I just want it to stop!!"

And even more complex may be those people who have become disillusioned with most of life in general. They view life as being unfair, and believe justice cannot be obtained unless the worst is always and as often as can be ...exposed.  A general sense of dissatisfaction with life, with a little precisely timed conscious prodding ...can quickly result in stirring up some misguided emotions.  And tragically it does not take long to form a deep-seated anger or bitterness.  Kindred to these exposed emotions are the roots to the problem ...which are sadly too often allowed to grow unchecked.

I am not one to espouse any principals that warrant any sole commitment to psychological dogma.  But, as a point of reference to which we can perhaps learn something ...it is perhaps a worthy effort to look at the perspective of those attempting to classify, as 'grouping' often provides a more than slight possibility of understanding.

I recalled many years ago, a presentation done using the Johari Window. It's intended to be a self-help or personal awareness aid.  It is also used as a tool for guidelines for interactions within a group ...used for mutual benefit for those gathered together for that purpose of accomplishing something.

Animated characters in cartoons often attempt to tell a story, involving a bit of decision-making ...also alluding to the help of a conscience.  Some cartoons outright depict an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other.  But, some are a bit more subtle with creating characters like Jiminy Cricket or as Dr. Seuss displays with a simple minded, yet logical and somehow trained for parental correctness ...fish, in a fishbowl, in The Cat in the Hat.  Unnamed in the book, the TV show felt obliged to give the fish a name ...fitting that cartoon criteria, with Carlos K. Krinklebein.

Yet, the Johari Window is presented as four ways to view things, as four window panes ...not to take too many pains to make too much of it.
  1. What is known by a person about him/herself & known by others.  This being a more open self, which may lead us to say ...a more free self.  And therefore, being free ...it is depicted as being an open arena to understanding, without the typical barriers that exist in other areas of our lives.
  2. Unknown by a person about him/herself, but others know. This is called blind spot, or blind self.
  3. What a person knows about him/herself, while others don't know it.  This is called hidden self, or perhaps facade ...depending on the motivation, or motive.  It can also be called the avoided area ...as he/she may not want to know about these things.  We are often very convincing to ourselves ...and though it may be looked at as harmless self-preservation, it is still denial.
  4. Unknown by a person about him/herself, & also unknown to others.  This can be a learning arena ...as we all don't know things before we know them.  But, what kind of learning a person is open to ...makes a big difference.  There is such a thing as negative learning, or being taught the wrong things.
Let me explain a little bit about # 4 ...appearing to be the the most bold in stating a condition of negative or wrong learning. I challenge anyone to tell me the name of one person they know who has died as a result of Climate Change. Yet, we have been told that Climate Change is more of a threat to our nation and world than an organization promoting violent terrorism.

I've searched many sites to see what is actually listed as effects of climate change.  It is always a bit discretionary in choosing what sites are best, but I chose this one, listed below as: Some of the most dangerous consequences of climate change. (my comments follow each italicized heading)

  • Higher temperatures ...you may call it isolated Michigan ignorance, but last year we had one of the coldest winters in a long time.  Yes, you globies do claim there will be effectual spikes in the opposite direction, though looking at honest figures, there has been only deviations from the average in both directions...which is how we compute an average in the first place.
  • Changing landscapes ...if this is a major concern for you, I can recommend a Landscaping company for you to attend to your needs.
  • Wildlife at risk ...the best solution to this is to add the species to our food chain, and we will have ample entrepreneurs making sure the species flourish.  On the other hand, I could make a list of a few species I would like to be extinct, the mosquito heading up the list.  Seriously, are we more concerned over this than a living threat by those who'd prefer our own citizens face elimination??
  • Rising seas ...this is not of the tidal wave pace, and I think I could easily walk away from that danger.  Even Noah had 120 years to prepare ...and if you recall, the rising seas had nothing to do with man's use of the environment, it had to do more with the family environment that was created.
  • Increased risk of drought/fire ...history has many documented periods of drought, thousands of years ago.
  • Stronger storms & increased storm damage ...Number of recorded storms affecting United States:
  • 1850s ...17
  • 1860s ...15
  • 1870s ...19
  • 1880s ...25
  • 1890s ...20
  • 1900-1909 ...17
  • 1910s ...21
  • 1920s ...15
  • 1930s ...18
  • 1940s ...23
  • 1950s ...20
  • 1960s ...15
  • 1970s ...12
  • 1980s ...17
  • 1990s ...15
  • 2000–2009 ...19
  • 2010s ...4
How is that again??
  • Heat-related illnesses and diseases ...yes, I am all for combating diseases, but I believe we should approach this not just with words.  We need to be genuine and consistent about it.  During the summer of 2014, thousands of children crossed our southern border and surrendered themselves to Border Patrol agents.  We were led to believe that they found their own way here ...but, there is a document from the Department of Homeland Security seeking a contractor to manage and transport approximately 65,000 (UAC) Unaccompanied Alien Children, ten times the average entering our country every year.  Yes, we need to consider compassionately how we are to respond. But, being compassionate ...does not mean we have to be careless. Though I don't prefer the term 'alien', we do quarantine astronauts who've been in space ...and perhaps we should have had a space in time where we assessed the health of these children before rapidly spreading them throughout various parts of our country. (And an update now, besides the regular flu season, in 2020 we began to experience something else that thrives in cold weather ---Covid-19.)
  • Economic losses ...Perhaps the most absurd statement is this one. Due largely to sanctions put in place because of the fear of forever ruining our environment, inclusive of the relatively recent narrative of climate change, our economy has been significantly damaged ...and recovery stands behind many pretenses.
You perhaps say ...that I am being ridiculously insensitive, that I am only thinking of the here & now, and not of future generations.  Well, not to keep score, but you'd be wrong again. I am not at all a person who thinks of only the here & now.  I am passionately concerned for the future generations of children ...and not just a select group of children, but all children.

But, first let me mention a few things.  It appears that wrong things are no less embraced than right things.  At least the solutions for correcting wrongs are dependent upon first differentiating what is wrong and what is right ...then rating the importance of it or urgency.  Often part of the problem is the fact of that very thing ...that we differ on that differentiation.

Many times inaccuracies or wrong ideologies are embraced at the onset ...as they are packaged to incite our emotions, and convince us of a new found fear we have not beforehand been introduced to.  But, right things are also difficult at times to convince of our involvement.

Look at the group of people often considered the Greatest Generation.  It is understandable how people who are suffering their own depravity still within the grasp of the Great Depression ...would hesitate to get involved in someone else's struggle.  Yes, they did hesitate to get involved, but they then went on to fight and defeat on of the world's greatest threats of all time in World War II.  They came to know and show the rest of us what is patriotism ...and it moved us with compassion and a fighting spirit of resolve.

Today, I hear more about how bad war is ...which it is, but we must not forget what is behind it.  What moves us to get involved??  And why are so many of those who've been moved to get involved ...so looked down upon??

There are some factions of society who mix a very small degree of religiosity with an overwhelming portion of sick and violent behavior.  They rape women, sell them as sex slaves, and even take little girls as child brides ...if not also raping and killing them.  And we look at patriotism as something less than admirable ...choosing not to get involved, while we think we are bold and strong in our own safe havens, claiming women's rights.  In those areas of our world, the women have no rights ...no rights to be safe, and no rights to at times even exist.

We of the USA have the right to not be a part of arranged marriages ...and our choice is to be privileged to not get involved with these type of people in our own society.  If we want to stand up for women's rights, let's not take the irresponsible and cowardly route ...let's focus on those who truly do not have any rights.

And instead of talking about how climate change will affect our future generations of children ...let's focus on the generation that can't even fight for their existence, as they are denied existence because of the claim of women's rights.  Don't get involved with any such delinquent guy who can't take responsibility for his actions ...who can't be a real daddy.
